Uncommon brunch in Dallas is yours to be had on the ground floor of the Virgin Hotel. In the Dallas Design District sits Commons Club. This Dallas restaurant offers weekend brunch with great food and good people watching. While many may be guests of the hotel, plenty of the diners had come to Commons Club from other parts of the city.

The menu features three boards that are a great way to start your uncommon brunch experience. They can feed several or serve as appetizer or an add-on to allow you to try a few things. But choosing just one is the challenge! Indeed, the pancake board with bacon, berries, caramel, and chocolate ganache is tempting. But how about the lox and bagel board featuring two types of cream cheese along with tomatoes, cucumbers and other accoutrements? There’s also the charcuterie board featuring meats, cheese, and accompanied with sourdough.

For entrees, we wanted to try come entrees commonly found on brunch menus at Dallas restaurants to see how the Commons Club interpretations fared.

Would these be common or uncommon brunch choices? Well, the avocado toast was very good. But chicken and waffles was the standout. The waffles were jalepeno cheddar which added flavor. And the chicken drizzled with hot honey added a nice kick. Furthermore, the chicken was juicy and could stand on its own. It was not an after thought, as can be the case elsewhere. This is a tough dish to get right, and Commons Club passed the uncommon brunch test with flying colors!

Our uncommon brunch experience also included a Bloody Mary and the atmosphere of others in Dallas dressed up and enjoying a leisurely brunch on this Saturday for no reason other than they could.

Birthday, anniversary and just because celebrations are suitable for Commons Club.   Break out of the neighborhood and give it a go!
