Toyota & Jeep Take Top Awards

Tundra TRD Pro was named Texas Motor Press’ Off-Road Truck of the Year.
Texas Motor Press’ Off-Road SUV of the Year is the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe. It also took the title for Mid-Size SUV of the Year.

We enjoyed the opportunity to test the RAM 1500 Limited, Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, and Nissan Frontier PRO-4X at the Texas Motor Press Off-Road Invitational at the Brazos Valley Off-Road Ranch in Bryan, Texas.

In the SUV category, we also put the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe, Nissan Pathfinder Rock-Creek, Mazda CX-50 AWD and Kia Sportage AWD to the test.

The Ram 1500 Limited was named Texas Full-Size Truck of the Year
Nissan’s Frontier PRO-4X is Mid-Size Truck of the Year
The Full-Size SUV of the Year title went to Nissan’s Pathfinder Rock-Creek
Mazda CX-50

There was a close vote in Texas Motor Press’ competition between the Kia Sportage and the Mazda CX-50 for Texas Compact SUV of the Year, with the CX-50 edging out the Kia by just a few votes.

Other additions to the Texas Motor Press event were the Polaris RZR Pro R 4 Utility Task Vehicle and the Rungu Dualie Steep and Rungu Dualie XR Rubicon Trail Edition trail bikes and off-road Zero FX and Dual Sport Zero DSR/X motorcycles.

Savvy Driver Beverly Smirnis on the Rungu. Rungu’s Dualie XR Rubicon Trail Edition bike was named Texas Trail Bike of the Year.
Zero’s FX was named Texas Off-Road Motorcycle of the Year and the DSR/X model was named Texas Dual Sport Motorcycle of the Year.
