At the end of her tenure as DSOL President for the 23-24 season, Nancy Labadie (right) presented a check for $1,250,000 to Dallas Symphony Orchestra President/CEO Kim Noltemy in support of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s education outreach programs.

Besides its Debutante Presentation Ball, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League’s seasonal events include its Fashion Notes Designer Award and Luncheon, Savor the Symphony and Junior Symphony Ball.

Mercedes Bass Commits $5 million to the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra

In celebration of her 80th Birthday, Mrs. Bass has generously committed $5 million to the FWSO. The funds will be allocated over the course of five years. This exceptional gift further supports the orchestra’s ongoing efforts to expand its philanthropic base and continue its mission of artistic excellence.

As part of this leadership gift, Mrs. Bass has also initiated a matching gift program, the Campaign for Artistic Excellence Matching Gift Program, aimed at inspiring the philanthropic community to rally behind the FWSO. This initiative will encourage even greater support for the orchestra’s service to the community.

In recognition of Mrs. Bass’ steadfast support and generosity, the FWSO will rename its popular Concerts in the Garden series as “The Mercedes T. Bass FWSO Concerts in the Garden Series” for a period of 15 consecutive years.

Last November, the FWSO announced the pause of Concerts in the Garden for the 2024 season while the Fort Worth Botanic Garden (FWBG) constructs an outdoor amphitheater as part of their master plan. Until Concerts in the Garden returns, the FWSO is committed to keeping the summer tradition of live music alive for the Fort Worth community. The Mercedes T. Bass Sounds of the Summer Series schedule is offered in collaboration with local businesses and arts organizations. The FWSO proudly continues its partnership with the FWBG this summer, offering a series of indoor concerts in the FWBG Lecture Hall.

The May Announcement Party signals the start of a full calendar of summer events to introduce the DSOL debs, their Honor Guard and the parents of both.
