New Chapter for a Ford Icon

So why, many are asking, is the seventh-generation 2024 Mustang sticking with gas-powered engines?

The answer lies in Ford’s intention not to lose a single one of its loyal customers, Whether a gearhead or an electric revolutionary, Ford aspires to retain its loyalists from both sides of the aisle.

As others announce the discontinuation of their iconic muscle cars, the new Mustang could soon be in a segment all by itself. Ford hopes to attract newbies into the brand. Indeed, Farley and team hedge their bets that there are still enough drivers thirsting for an American coupe muscle car that they’ll be forced to come to Ford. Then once they’re in the fold, the Ford team will do everything they can to turn them into a new breed of Ford loyalists.

The leaders admit that if the day comes when people don’t want gas-powered vehicles, they’ll stop offering them. But that day will bring tears to the eyes of anyone passionate about the authentic sound of a revving engine, and that includes Bill Ford and Jim Farley.

When You See People Gawking at it In a Parking Lot, It’s Fun to Use Mustang’s New Remote Rev Feature.

Just rev up the engine remotely using the key fob! The seventh generation 2024 Mustang is modern with a new chiseled, rugged look. And yet, the design is heritage-inspired at the same time.

We drove the GT Coupe, truly a gearhead’s dream. Its 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that cranks out 480 horsepower with an uncompromised connection to a six-speed manual transmission.  Sliding into the drivers seat into its optioned Recaro bucket seats, we embrace an all-new race-inspired flat-bottomed steering wheel.  We stare at a redesigned fighter-jet inspired digital cockpit. We crank up the 12-speaker B&O Sound System, and dial up the volume on the Active Exhaust.

In True Ford Fashion The Mustang Offers Plentiful Options

With our Performance Pack equipment upgrade, we are all set to show off the vehicle’s capabilities. We’re assisted by a front strut-tower brace, Torsen limited-slip differential, wider wheels and tires and larger Brembo brakes. All the while, MagneRide active-dampening suspension softens the thrill ride just enough. Spotting a safe opportunity, it is time to test Mustang’s segment-first electronic drift brake. It unlocks the rear-wheel-drive drifting capability of Mustang with the visual appeal and functionality of a traditional, mechanical hand brake to accomplish the challenge.

Our tester is a demo car without a price listed. But the price of the 2024 Ford Mustang starts at $32,515 and the GT coupe starts around $48,000. The GT Performance package alone adds roughly $5000 extra. So, we’d estimate the all-in price of our fully optioned GT Coupe would easily be north of $60,000.
