Unlike rival trucks that are based on a traditional body-on-frame design, the Ridgeline is unibody. So its drives more like a crossover SUV with the distinct advantage in ride comfort and interior space. But if you’re looking for maximum towing capacity, it probably won’t be your choice. However, the first-ever Ridgeline TrailSport trim package does make it more truck-like in off-road capability.
The Savvy Drivers got to experience the 2024 Ridgeline AWD TrailSport. We enjoyed it for a week on the roads of Dallas. And it proved its capabilities at the annual Texas Truck Rodeo, hosted by the Texas Auto Writers Association.

All Ridgelines are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine (280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque) mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The TrailSport adds exclusive rugged hardware that includes a new off-road tuned suspension that improves articulation and off-road ride quality without sacrificing Ridgeline’s exceptional on-road comfort and best-in-class handling.
The TrailSport also adds a steel underbody protection that shields its oil pan from sharp rocks and other off-road hazards, as well as Ridgeline’s first-ever application of all-terrain tires which take its rugged capabilities even further. Standard General Grabber™ A/T Sport tires (245/60R18), mounted on new Pewter 18-inch wheels, substantially improve TrailSport’s traction in dirt, sand, mud, rocky terrain and snow, but remain quiet and comfortable on the road.
The TrailSport’s cabin stands out with orange contrast stitching on the steering wheel, door panels and seats, with the TrailSport logo embroidered on the front seat head restraints and molded onto its standard all-season rubber floor mats.
Our tester’s MSRP was $44,980. It sported a host of post-production options adding about $9k to its price tag. With special paint and destination charges, the final price was $55,995.
More From Honda at the Truck Rodeo

Also making an appearance at the Truck Rodeo, Honda’s spacious and adventure-ready Prologue promises to advance the electrification strategies of Honda with its top-of-class standard and available tech features and comprehensive charging solutions to instill confidence in new EV buyers. Prologue Elite features standard all-wheel drive (available on EX and Touring), which adds an additional motor in the rear. This dual motor arrangement generates 288 hp and 333 lb.-ft. of torque, delivering responsive and quick acceleration.
The all-new 2024 Honda Prologue, the first all-electric Honda SUV, will begin arriving in Honda dealerships this spring. It boasts a 296-mile EPA range rating, the highest standard driving range rating in its class. It recharges on the go with DC fast charging at rates up to 150 kW. And Prologue’s 85 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is designed to recharge 65 miles of range in about 10 minutes.
