Communities Foundations of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day on September 21 drew donations totaling $63.9 million benefitting 3,249 nonprofits across the 20-county North Texas regions.  North Texas Giving Day has raised more than $560M since the annual event was established.

The Faces of Philanthropy

Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer (WOKC) was busy during September Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. WOKC offered a $25,000 matching grant to incentivize donations on September 21–North Texas Giving Day.  Celebrating its 43rd year, the non-profit offers comfort and hope to kids with cancer through support programs serving the entire family.  WOKC fundraising activities also support innovative research leading to new discoveries and treatments in the fight against pediatric cancer.

KidneyTexas, Inc. board members Christine Martin, Rose Gault, Barbara Bigham, Natalie Taylor, Nancy Greenbach (president, holding the award); Dr. Carla Russo, Regina Bruce, Terri Bumgarner and Therese Rourk accepted a “Southwest Transplant Alliance Foundation 2023 Outlive Yourself Award.”  The award is bestowed annually on those who have contributed to the advancement of organ donation in meaningful ways over the past year. The Dallas Arboretum selected retired U.S. Navy Four-star Admiral and New York Times Best-Selling Author and  former University of Texas System chancellor William H. McRaven for its Great Contributors Award. He will be honored November 5 at a dinner with proceeds benefitting the Dallas Arboretum. After the dinner, former U.S. Ambassador to NATO and U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison will interview Admiral McRaven about world affairs, intelligence and national security—topics on which both are experts.
