Yesterday’s Savvy Driver post about the RAM Truck brand setting the bar high said, “Ram’s design and engineering team deserve a pat on the back, and they’re getting it in the form of sales and awards!” And now they add two more of the most prestigious awards in the country to their trophy case. Ram and FCA also swept a number of other awards in the individual categories:
With social distancing and safety protocols in place during this unprecedented year, the Texas Auto Writers Association held its 2020 Texas Truck Rodeo in the Texas Hill Country in October. The Savvy List publishers, Steve and Beverly Smirnis were among the 27 Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) members that traveled to Star Hill Ranch outside Austin on October 5-6, 2020, to evaluate 39 trucks and SUVs on a new off-roading course designed for the event. Drivers had the opportunity to drive the vehicles on-road as well.Vehicles are measured on their interior, exterior, value, performance and personal appeal.
TAWA members were the very first journalists to drive the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX that won top honors and were under a strict embargo order that is now lifted for it. The TAWA journalists were also among the first to drive the 2021 Dodge Surango SRT Hellcat. While there are no embargo restrictions for photos, video and social-media posts of the vehicle on display/static, print, photography, video and all social-media reporting of the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat driving or in motion is embargoed until the end of November.
