FEBRUARY IS THE MONTH OF LOVE…


At the back of Anna of Iowa (Book 2 in the Anna series by Catherine Team and Beverly Smirnis), is a speech by C.J. Renfro, the narrator who talks with Anna in both of the books in the series. 

Love Is delves into the various forms of love and how each type if important to experience in order to fully realize the romantic type of love we often first think of when we think about the meaning of the word “love.”

Dallas Blooms, the largest floral festival in the Southwest, returns February 25-April 16, with 500,000 spring-blooming bulbs, thousands of azaleas and hundreds of Japanese cherry trees and a NEW exhibition of Gary Lee Price’s Great Contributors, including Ruby Bridges, Harriet Tubman, Mother Teresa and Amelia Earhart. Enjoy live music every weekend with piano in Jeanne’s Pavillion from 12-2 p.m. and party bands from 2-4 p.m. on the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn. The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden also reopens on February 25.

Edith’s Memory Garden Program, a series of four classes for those in the early to middle stages of dementia or Alzheimer’s, sponsored by the AWARE foundation and the Darrell K Royal Research Foundation


Save Our Monarchs has sponsored over 30,000 School Pollinator Gardens across the US and Canada, offering all the necessary seeds to create a 10’ x 10’ wildflower garden in each school at no cost to the schools.

 Its goal is to plant an additional 25,000 Pollinator Gardens across the US in 2023.  Every school, scout troop and 4H club is invited to participate in the program. Once enrolled, the school or organization will receive a Pollinator Garden Mix pouch containing 17 wildflower, ten (10) annuals for first-year color, plus seven (7) perennials for second and successive years’ bloom….perfect for children to plant in a Butterfly & Bee Garden!!

It’s time to start thinking about hats!  Thursday, April 20, 2023, one of Dallas’ biggest and best charity parties will take place. This year, the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum’s Mad Hatter’s Tea Party sports a British theme. Guests will parade their creative and elegant interpretations of the theme in front of the hat judges.  This year’s event will also feature remarks by renowned fashion designer, Michael Faircloth, as he celebrates the history and humor of hats.

AWARE has announced Friday, April 14 as the date for the AWARE Affair 2023:  An Artful Evening of Advocacy Fighting Alzheimer’s. The gala will be held at Lighthouse ArtSpace. an immersive art venue.

Venise and Larry Stuart are long-time supporters of AWARE.  Venise is a former AWARE president and continues her commitment through volunteer service on the board and more. 
Taylor Hearn is familiar as a left-handed pitcher for the Texas Rangers baseball team. He is also
involved in the community outside of his professional baseball commitment.
