Dinner in Space starts in 2025. And it’s the perfect place to pop the question.
On board a space capsule lifted by a stratospheric balloon, lovers have the opportunity to savor an exceptional dinner in space prepared by a French Michelin-starred chef and served by an AI-powered robot.
ApoteoSurprise is an agency based in Paris that specializes in orchestrating extravagant marriage proposals. And their newest proposal experience is quite literally, off the planet! Indeed, the romantics of tomorrow can ask for their beloved’s hand while having dinner in space. Like only some 600 astronauts before them, the lovers have the opportunity to gaze at the curvature of the Earth, its blue halo, and the total darkness of space.
Upon their arrival at the spaceport, a pilot welcomes the couple and invites them to board a spherical and futuristic space capsule. In the center of the cabin, a table is elegantly set, reminiscent of the most refined Parisian restaurants. The lovers are introduced to StellarEmbrace, the robot that ApoteoSurprise developed in collaboration with a British startup. Equipped with artificial intelligence, the robot adapts to the emotions and desires of the couple. StellarEmbrace addresses the woman by her name and presents her with a bouquet of roses. Then, lifted by a helium-inflated stratospheric balloon, the pressurized capsule embarks on a peaceful two-hour ascent.
Soon after liftoff, StellarEmbrace announces, “A gourmet dinner for two in space awaits.”
The couple takes their seats at the table and StellarEmbrace begins serving them a five-course dining experience orchestrated by a renowned French chef with two Michelin stars. It includes champagne and wines specially crafted for the occasion. A carefully selected playlist accompanies the culinary experience. “Space Oddity” (David Bowie), “Across the Universe” (The Beatles), and “Walking on the Moon” (Police) are among the tunes softly playing as the couple partakes in breathtaking 360° views through their spacecraft’s immense windows.
Just before dessert, StellarEmbrace playfully interrupts the tasting to inform the man that he has forgotten something important. The robot promptly brings him a luminous box, announcing that a secret code is needed to open it. Suddenly, the suitor will remember the code and enter it. And surprise! As the box splits in two, an engagement ring is revealed. As the man proposes to his beloved, the couple seals their love in the eternity of space. Just a little later, the capsule begins its slow descent.
After a two-hour journey home, the betrothed are back on Earth, where his bank account is some 750,000 euros lighter than before. (That’s not counting the cost of the ring, of course). But hey, what’s the value of an of such a once-in-a-lifetime* event?
