Nissan didn’t have as many shiny new toys to bring to the Texas Auto Writers’ Texas Truck Rodeo last October. But it has been busy preparing for 2026, when it plans to introduce host of new electric sedans and crossovers for both Nissan and Infiniti.
Nissan concluded its production of the Titan full-size pickup last summer. And it stated plans to convert the former Titan’s manufacturing plant in Canton, Mississippi, to focus on EVs.
At the same time, it extended the current generation of its midsize Frontier pickup through the 2029 model year. So, some surmise that this could mean a new electric Frontier is on the way.
Meanwhile for Frontier, Nissan reintroduced the premium SL Trim to the Frontier lineup along with a special edition of the Hardbody variant that pays homage to the iconic Nissan Hardbody pickup of the 1980s.
And the subcompact Nissan Kicks SUV plays a crucial role for Nissan as it prepares for next generation of vehicles. It is an affordable and practical option that appeals to a broad range of consumers, supporting the brand’s presence in the competitive subcompact SUV market as Nissan prepares to convert its brand loyalists to an electric future.
On the Infiniti Side of Things…
Reinforcing its appeal as a well-rounded option in the midsize luxury SUV market, Inifiniti’s best-selling QX60 received updates this year. These include a new Black Edition package with blackout roof rails and 20-inch wheels, and an increased towing capacity of 6,000 pounds in the AUTOGRAPH trim.
INFINITI QX50 held its own in the stiff compact SUV competition, offering maximum cargo space and a lower starting price, while QX80 competes with Euro rivals in the full-size luxury SUV segement.
And although QX55’s sales figures are relatively modest within INFINITI’s overall lineup, its unique design and market positioning play a crucial role in broadening the brand’s appeal and reinforcing its commitment to innovation and style. Attracting a niche market with the QX55 luxury compact crossover coupe is a strategic move to diversify Infiniti’s customer base and stay competitive in the evolving automotive landscape.
This year, the Savvy Drivers had the opportunity to drive the 2024 QX60 Autograph AWD and the QX55 Sensory AWD. At the top-tier trim level, both of these Infinitis represent a competitively priced option against European rivals. The QX60’s MSRP was listed at $66,100. And after a few minor add-ons plus destination fees its total priced showed $69,240. The QX55 listed an MSRP of $58,500 and $62,725 after the same type of minimal add-ons and delivery charges.
